Canon is attempting to replace batteries in cameras and printers with tiny fuel cells. The necessary hydrogen would come from a refillable cartridge. Though fuel cells would last longer than the typical lithium ion battery, current fuel cell prototypes are too large and Canon is still working on a convenient method for providing the hydrogen fuel to consumers.
