Hydrogen Economy - from here to there
6 September 2005 by Hydrogen PowerAutomotive powertrain and electronics engineers met to discuss the long term future of the auto and many seemed to agree that hydrogen based power is the eventual outcome. The path to that outcome is where the agreement ends. The internal combustion engine has a long future ahead of it but even there these engineers had different ideas about what that future held. Some view hybrids as a the growth area, while others look at developments such as HCCI (Homogenous Charge Combustion Ignition) to extend the life of internal combustion engines with better and more efficient combustion technology. Either way, though, hydrogen seems to be the long term aim.
