Automakers focus on California for fuel cell cars

31 August 2005 by Hydrogen Power

GM, Honda and BMW are looking at the possibilities in California for hydrogen powered cars due to the hydrogen highway initiative of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. BMW is planning on offering a small number of its 7 series in 2010, powered by both a gasoline engine and a fuel cell system.

General Motors Corp, Japan’s Honda Motor and Germany’s BMW are pursuing competing technologies to introduce new “zero emission” cars that run on fuel cells and do not pollute, said engineering and marketing managers for the three automakers.
