Hydrogen batteries
22 March 2005 by Hydrogen PowerDevelopment and adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology in cars has been moving slowly and companies have technology that can be used now, so, some are shifting to markets where the performance of their fuel cells outweighs the cost. Millennium Cell Inc. once felt their technology would be adapted for automotive use but now their aim is laptop computers, military radios and medical equipment. These applications have historically required more battery power than seemed to be available. The Millenium Cell or hydrogen battery may provide the extended duration needed.
fuel cell technology for automobiles has taken longer to develop… Cars and vehicles that use hybrid technology, a combination of gasoline and electric power, have become popular options.
Meanwhile, the market for fuel cells used to power portable devices, particularly military applications, has taken off… New fuel cell providers have focused on power sources for small devices
This type of shift may provide the commercial incentives necessary for fuel cell research to continue. Hydrogen cars will not happen by noon tomorrow but constant progress will bring them ever closer. These steps by Millenium Cell help move us in the right direction.
